Apple's rival is gone: Huawei 2020

Huawei's Harmony OS claims that it is in a position to compete with Apple in terms of smartphone operating systems. However, experts are skeptical about this claim. They say Huawei should be blown out of China without important advances.

Huawei has been moving forward with its own operating system since last year, after Google was cut off from Android due to a blacklist in the United States, according to a CNBC report.

Eric Tan, vice president of customer cloud services at Huawei, claimed on Tuesday, "Harmony OS is in a position to provide an ecosystem that can compete with Google and Apple." We are confident of becoming the world's leading ecosystem developer.

Google has been the world's second-largest smartphone maker for several years, relying on Google's Android operating system. Last year, the Chinese company was blacklisted by the United States on charges of spying, limiting its access to US technology. As a result, the company is not able to make non-dependent phones.

In response, Huawei launched its own operating system the same year.

Brian Ma, vice president of device research at market research firm IDC, told CNBC that it would not be easy for Huawei to create alternatives to premier applications outside of China. Because many of them rely on Google for things like digital rights management, location, payment and notification services.
